Welcome aboard. As treasurer, your surface area spans Financial Management, the dues side of Membership, the gift side of Donor Management, and the exports that feed your accounting software. Your organization's administrator sends you an invite by email; everything below starts from accepting it. Inside the apps you will also find an interactive Getting Started checklist tailored to your role at the top of the sidebar; this page is the map, that checklist is the turn-by-turn.

Have handy: your accounting software login (QuickBooks, Xero, or Aplos), bank and Stripe access, the current budget, and last month’s statements.

Part 1. Your first week

1.1
Accept your invite and sign in. Open the Financial Management app from your portal and work through the Getting Started checklist.Done when: you can sign in and see the financial tools.
1.2
Open the Dues Dashboard in Membership.Done when: you can see who has paid, who is due, and who has lapsed, with totals, in one screen.
1.3
Verify the money path. Confirm the organization’s own Stripe account is connected and find where payouts land in your bank.Done when: you can trace a donation from donor to bank statement.
1.4
Run the accounting export. In Donor Management, run Export for accounting and import it into your accounting software.Done when: gifts import with the Restriction column mapping to net-asset classes, no re-keying.

Part 2. Your first month

2.1
Close your first month. Export gifts, dues, and event revenue; reconcile against Stripe payouts and the bank.Done when: the platform, Stripe, and the bank agree to the dollar, and you know why if they do not.
2.2
Confirm member-reported payments. Work the claim-and-confirm queue (members who say they paid by check or cash).Done when: no payment claim sits unconfirmed for more than a week.
2.3
Load the budget into Financial Management and compare actuals for your first month.Done when: the board can see budget versus actual without asking you to build a spreadsheet.
2.4
Produce your first board financial report for the packet, using the reporting tools rather than hand-built slides.Done when: the report cites real recorded figures, and next month takes minutes, not evenings.

Part 3. Your rhythm

3.1
Weekly: glance at new gifts and dues; flag anything odd (refunds, disputes, unusually large gifts needing acknowledgment care).Done when: nothing surprising ages more than a week.
3.2
Monthly: export, reconcile, budget-versus-actual, board report. Confirm restricted funds are spent only on their purpose.Done when: a clean monthly close with restrictions honored.
3.3
Annually: the 990 numbers assembled from your exports, giving statements out in January, dues renewal cycle reviewed, and the audit-readiness checklist run if an audit or review is coming.Done when: year-end is assembly, not archaeology.
