Service Growth Ideas for Consultants and Specialists

All In One Nonprofit, partner channel. Version 2, September 5, 2026. For consultants and specialists who serve nonprofits, and for anyone considering the Certified Consultant Program. Interested? Start at https://www.allinonenonprofit.com/start/consultant/; the consultant account is free. Already a partner? This page also lives on your Hub at https://app.allinonenonprofit.com/hub/growth. To keep a copy, use Print or save as PDF at the top right.

Your margin comes from services, not from reselling software. The platform price is fixed and published, you pay nothing to be a partner, and every service on this page is billed at your own rates on top of it. The platform does the mechanics; your hours go into judgment. A consultant who only does setup earns once. A consultant running three of the services below has recurring revenue and a client who renews.

Why recommending the platform is the easy call.

Which plan for which client

AIO Essentials $49 a month or $499 a year

For all-volunteer and volunteer-led organizations: clubs, young charities, congregations, booster groups, PTOs, associations. Nobody is paid and the money is simple. One owner, three admins, one consultant, up to two specialists, and up to 500 contacts (members, donors, and volunteers each count once).

The services that fit: bookkeeping-lite, donor and member communications, board rhythm, compliance watch, event and volunteer programs, website and giving, the first annual report.

AIO Complete $199 a month or $1,999 a year

For organizations that have crossed into staff, grants, government filings beyond the annual return, or casework. One owner, unlimited admins, one consultant, unlimited specialists, unlimited contacts, priority support. Everything in Essentials plus the heavier machinery.

The services that fit: everything on the Essentials list, plus grant pipeline and proposal work, 990 and exemption filings, HR and handbook work, operations and risk audits, outcomes measurement, case reporting for funders, scholarship programs, and marketing campaigns.

The tell is simple. If nobody is paid and the money is simple, Essentials. The day they hire someone, win a grant, or open case files, they are a Complete organization, and that day they can afford it. Related entities that hold their own EIN (chapters, affiliates, fiscally sponsored projects) are added to the same subscription at half the plan price, which is a service opportunity of its own for a consultant who serves a family of organizations.

Services on both plans

Every module in this table is available on AIO Essentials and AIO Complete. These are the services to open with, because every client qualifies for them on day one.

ModuleWhat the platform doesThe service you sellWho needs it
Financial ManagementBudget against actuals, a full transaction ledger with CSV import, and a board financial report with an AI treasurer narrative.Bookkeeping-lite. Record donations, dues, and expenses monthly, reconcile against the bank statement, keep the budget current, and hand the treasurer a finished board report. A monthly retainer. The organization with a volunteer treasurer who has a day job, or nobody doing it at all.
Donor ManagementDonor CRM with gifts, a major-gift pipeline, and AI-drafted acknowledgment letters from a real record.Donor stewardship. Log gifts, send acknowledgments within a week, run the year-end tax letters, and work the major-gift pipeline with the board chair. Add a quarterly lapsed-donor review.Any organization whose thank-you letters go out late, or not at all, and whose donor list lives in a spreadsheet.
MembershipMembers, levels, renewals, and a Predictions tab that spots members at risk of lapsing.Renewal management. Run the renewal cycle, chase the at-risk list, clean the roster, and report retention to the board. Natural for associations, clubs, and congregations.Membership organizations losing members quietly because nobody watches the renewal dates.
Contact ManagerOne record per person across the whole organization, with every call, email, and meeting logged on a timeline.Data cleanup and migration. Merge the three spreadsheets into one list, deduplicate, tag, and import. A fixed-fee project that makes every other service possible.Everyone. Nearly every new client arrives with duplicate and stale records.
Fundraising and DevelopmentAnnual development plan, events with tickets and check-in, a grants pipeline view, and expected pipeline value.Annual development plan and event program. Build the year's fundraising calendar, run the signature event's registration and check-in, and close the loop with follow-up after each event.Organizations that raise money by habit rather than by plan, and boards that ask "what is the fundraising plan?" every year.
Volunteer ManagementVolunteer database, shifts, logged hours, and a Predictions tab for who is drifting away.Volunteer program buildout. Roles, shift scheduling, hour tracking for the annual report and grant applications, and appreciation on a calendar.Organizations that run on volunteers and cannot say how many hours were given last year.
Board ManagementRoster, terms, officers, attendance, and AI-drafted agendas and minutes.Board packet service. Agenda, minutes, resolutions, and a board packet before every meeting, generated with the client's letterhead. Add term tracking and officer succession.Boards with no secretary, minutes in an inbox, and terms nobody can state.
CommitteesCommittee charters and agendas.Committee standup. Charter the finance, governance, and fundraising committees and set their meeting rhythm. Usually sold alongside the board packet service.Boards where the whole board does everything and nothing gets finished.
Board OfficersRole-by-role guides, onboarding kits, role agreements, and transition plans for the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.Officer onboarding and transition. A fixed-fee engagement every time an officer changes, and an annual officer orientation.Any organization at election time, and every organization whose treasurer just resigned.
Board HandbookA complete board handbook built from sample content.Board handbook project. Tailor and deliver the handbook, then keep it current annually. Often bundled with new director orientation.Boards that have never given a new director anything to read.
Compliance TrackerEvery federal and state filing deadline, a Predictions tab for filings at risk, and a compliance plan.Compliance watch. Own the calendar so charity registration renewals, the annual return, and state corporate reports actually get filed. Missing one can cost the client its exemption; preventing that is worth real money.Every organization. Most nonprofits do not know what their state requires.
Document LibraryOne secure place for every document, with version history, approvals, and electronic signature with a name, date, and IP audit trail.Records organization. Collect the determination letter, bylaws, minutes, policies, and insurance certificates into a clean folder structure, then run approvals and signatures through it. The records the client could not produce during onboarding are the sales list for policy work.Organizations whose paper trail is spread across three laptops and a church office.
FormsBuild a form once and share one link; responses in one place and a summary report that writes itself.Intake and registration forms. Volunteer applications, event registration, program intake, membership applications, surveys. A small fixed fee per form, plus the summary reporting.Organizations still collecting sign-ups by email and paper.
Annual ReportA guided annual report wizard with an AI-drafted letter from leadership and a finished export.Annual report production. One project a year, every year, with the financials and program story pulled from the platform.Organizations that have never published one, and funders who ask for one.
Technology and Digital ServicesA technology playbook from website to security, a Website Builder for a one-page site, and an AI-drafted tech plan.Website and giving. The website audit points at problems; the Website Builder and giving tools fix them. "Your website raised nothing last year" is a strong opener. Add a basic security and password review.Organizations with a website nobody has touched since it was built.
Nonprofit FormationState-by-state incorporation and 501(c)(3) checklist with ready-to-file bylaws and a conflict-of-interest policy.Formation package. Walk a new organization from idea to exemption application, and set them up on the platform on day one so the records start clean. The client that begins here stays.Founders starting a nonprofit, and clubs or associations that were never formally organized.
Reports (your Workspace)The client report generator builds monthly, quarterly, and annual reports from platform data as Word and PowerPoint, for every organization you are attached to.Reporting package. The platform builds the report; you review, annotate with recommendations, and present to the board. The single easiest recurring service to sell, because the client sees it every month.Every client. This is the service that keeps you in the room.

Also on both plans, and worth using as door openers: the Credibility Checklist and the Board Self-Assessment. They cost the client nothing, they take an hour, and each one produces a list of gaps that is, in effect, your proposal.

Services on AIO Complete

These modules open on AIO Complete only. They exist because of staff, grants, government filings, and casework, which is exactly where consulting engagements get larger. A client who needs any one of these has usually just gained the budget to pay for it.

ModuleWhat the platform doesThe service you sellWho needs it
Grant ManagementGrants end to end: Find Grants against an index of foundations and their historical giving, a Proposal Wizard with AI-drafted sections, a funder-fit Predictions tab, awards, and closeout.Grant pipeline setup, then grant writing. Set up the calendar around the client's real programs with the first three prospects researched, then write and submit at a per-proposal or retainer fee. Bring a grant-writing specialist on a Specialist seat if it is not your trade.Any organization that has won, or wants to win, its first grant. The largest engagement on this page.
IRS Forms AssistantForm 1023, Form 1024, and the annual Form 990 series, with AI-drafted narrative sections.Annual filing preparation and exemption applications. Organize the year's records so the 990 is an assembly job instead of an archaeology dig, and prepare the 1023 for new organizations. Licensed preparers sign; consultants without a license prepare and coordinate.Organizations filing a full 990 or 990-EZ for the first time, and founders applying for exemption.
HR ManagementPolicies, the employee handbook, offer letters, and job descriptions drafted with AI.First-hire package. Job description, offer letter, handbook, and the policy set an organization needs the week it makes its first hire. Then an annual handbook review. Bring an HR specialist on a Specialist seat. The organization hiring its first paid staff member, which is the exact moment it moves to Complete.
Executive DirectorA toolkit for the executive director: First 90 Days plan, annual work plan, and an AI-drafted board report.New executive director onboarding and coaching. A 90-day engagement with the new ED, then a monthly board-report review. Also fits a founder stepping into the role for the first time.Organizations hiring or promoting their first executive director.
Operations AuditScores operations across every area, shows the weakest in Predictions, and generates an improvement action plan.Operations assessment. A fixed-fee audit with a written action plan, followed by fixed-fee projects to close each gap. The audit sells the projects.Organizations that grew faster than their systems, and boards that sense something is off but cannot name it.
Risk Management and Insurance AuditA risk register, an insurance plan, coverage-gap review, and a board-ready risk report.Risk and insurance review. Annual risk register with a board presentation, and a coverage-gap memo the client takes to its broker. Pairs with D&O and general liability conversations.Organizations that run events, serve vulnerable people, or have never read their own policy.
Document Retention and SecurityA records-retention schedule and a data-security policy, tailored and board-ready.Policy package. Retention schedule, data-security policy, conflict-of-interest and whistleblower policies, adopted by board resolution and filed in the Document Library. These are the policies the Form 990 asks about by name.Any organization answering "no" on the 990 governance questions, and any grant-ready assessment that found gaps.
Impact and OutcomesProgram indicators and data, with Predictions on which outcomes are on pace for their annual targets.Outcomes measurement. Define the indicators funders ask for, set up the data collection, and produce the quarterly outcomes report that goes into every proposal and the annual report.Organizations that have grants and cannot yet prove what the money did.
Case ManagementThe people served, open cases, dated case notes, and a service log filtered by funder and exported for grant reports. Held tighter than every other app.Case system setup and funder reporting. Configure the case types and service log around the client's programs and funders, train the staff, and produce the funder report each quarter. Keep your own access to what the client ticks.Human-service organizations reporting units of service to a funder from a paper file.
Scholarship ManagementApplications scored against a rubric, with a ranked shortlist in Predictions.Scholarship program administration. Set up the application, rubric, and committee review, then run the cycle each year: intake, scoring, awards, and the compliance record.Foundations, community organizations, and associations that give scholarships from a spreadsheet and an email inbox.
MarketingCampaigns, social posts, and appeals, with a Campaign Kit and AI-drafted messaging.Campaign management. Year-end appeal, giving day, and program launch campaigns, planned and executed on a calendar. A specialist seat fits a communications freelancer.Organizations whose year-end appeal is one email sent on December 30.
AI Workflow AutomationA library of ready-to-use document and email templates that AI tailors from a few fields.Communications and policy drafting on retainer. The templates cut drafting time to minutes, so a small monthly retainer covers the letters, policies, and messages a client would otherwise never get around to.Organizations with no staff writer and a backlog of "we should really send something about that."
Name ChangeA guided assistant for the IRS, state, and bank steps of a legal name change, with notification letters.Rebrand and name-change project. One fixed-fee project, usually combined with website, marketing, and Document Library updates.Organizations rebranding or merging.

Packages that sell themselves

Consultants who price by the hour sell hours; consultants who price by the package sell outcomes. Three starting points, each built only from modules the client already pays for. You set your own fees; the platform never discounts and never sets your rates.

Essentials clients The "keep the lights on" retainer

  • Monthly: bookkeeping-lite in Financial Management, gift acknowledgments in Donor Management, and the monthly report from your Workspace.
  • Quarterly: compliance calendar review, board packet for the quarterly meeting, lapsed-donor and at-risk-member review.
  • Annually: annual report, officer transitions, board handbook refresh, website and giving audit.

Project add-ons: data cleanup and migration, records organization, event program buildout, formation package.

Complete clients The "back office" retainer

  • Everything in the Essentials retainer, plus a monthly grant pipeline review and one proposal in progress at all times.
  • Quarterly: funder outcomes and service-log reports, HR policy review, risk register update.
  • Annually: 990 preparation, operations audit with action plan, policy package review, scholarship or campaign cycle.

Project add-ons: first-hire package, new ED onboarding, case system setup, name-change project. Bring specialists on Specialist seats for grants, HR, and communications.

The upgrade conversation, done honestly

You never need to push a client from Essentials to Complete. Growth does it for you. The first paid hire lands in HR Management; the first grant award lands in Grant Management; the first filing beyond the annual return lands in the IRS Forms Assistant; the first case file lands in Case Management. Each arrives on the day the client can newly afford $199 a month, and each opens a larger engagement for you than anything on the Essentials list. When a client asks, say it plainly: "You have just crossed the line the plans are built around, and the tools you now need are on the other side of it." Records all carry over; nothing is re-entered.

The rhythm that makes it stick

The quarterly account review you already owe under the partner program is the sales motion. Every review ends with one concrete improvement suggested: data current, deadlines ahead, users correct, one next step. Some suggestions are free advice; some are the next project. A consultant who treats the quarterly review as a billable-work generator will never fail the activity condition, because doing the job and keeping the partner share are the same act. The platform records your activity in each client's organization, and that record is your proof of work.

IN PLAIN LANGUAGE Setup gets the client onto the platform. Services keep you paid and the client served. The quarterly review is where the next service gets sold. Essentials clients buy the everyday services; Complete clients buy the ones that come with staff, grants, filings, and casework. Either way, the platform price is the smallest number in the conversation.
